  1. HFH is thirty two years old in 2008.
  2. £1235 will pay for all the materials and labour to build a HFH home in the developing world – this is less than the average stamp duty paid in the UK on home purchases.
  3. HFH have built 260,000 houses since it began in 1976.
  4. The last 150,000 of these were built in the last 5 years.
  5. Today, HFH is building a home every 21 minutes.
  6. HFH is actively building in over 90 countries around the world.

About poverty

  1. More than 2 billion people around the world live in slum housing, of which just over half live in urban areas.
  2. Forty percent of African urban households are living below the poverty line.
  3. About 11 million children under the age of five die each year from preventable diseases such as pneumonia, diarrhoea, malaria and measles.
