Be an HopeBuilder!
How you can help
Substandard housing in Botswana
Become a HopeBuilder either on your own or with a small group of friends, family, church, school, social club. We're asking you to step up to the challenge of donating or raising just £1235 to build hope by building a family a home.
Being a HopeBuilder truly gives you the means to change the world! You can choose what part of the world you would like to build a home in (once your funds are raised, we'll select a country and project that is most in need of your help) and start raising funds.
Why £1235? Because that's the average cost of all the materials and labour (most of which is done voluntarily by the new homepartner family and others) needed to build a typical Habitat house in the developing world. You can of course raise funds to build more than one house!
How to become a HopeBuilder
An individual or a small group can register to become a HopeBuilder by:
- Donating £1235
- Raise funds (with the support of friends, colleagues and neighbours)
- Making a monthly gift of £12.35 per month
- Making a one-off gift towards my total through HopeRaiser either a personal sum or an amount I've raised
- Joining a volunteer building team
- Committing to leaving a legacy £1235
- A mix of all the above
What we'll give to you
- A HopeBuilders welcome pack
- A personalised web page with online fundraising facility
- A regularly updated website with fundraising tools, tips etc. to help you raise funds.
- A quarterly electronic newsletter detailing latest campaign information, progress reports, stories from all 4 regions and feedback on fundraising from other HopeBuilders. So, if you've got a story to tell about being a HopeBuilder, get in touch!
When you reach your HopeBuilders goal, we'll send you a Thank You certificate and a story and photo of a family in the part of the world where your HopeBuilder house will be built, so you can get a real idea of how your contribution has changed the life of a family!
Please note: All HopeBuilders income (over and above the cost of promoting and managing the campaign) goes towards building homes for families in need. Whilst you can choose a destination for your HopeBuilders gifts it may sometimes be necessary (e.g. at times of natural disaster) to divert the money to where the need is greatest.
